Volkswagen Australia issues recall for 16,000 vehicles

A recall notice has been issued for over 16,000 Volkswagen vehicles after a fluid leak was discovered in the seven-speed dual clutch gear box.

According to Volkswagen Australia, model year 2012 to 2014 Golf, Passat, Polo, Jetta and Caddy light commercial vehicles fitted with a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox have a fluid leak that may lead to pressure loss in the gearbox.

A loss in pressure in the gearbox can lead to a lack of power transmission between the engine and gearbox, which would result in a loss of drive function. This defect increases the risk of a road accident for all road users, potentially causing injury to the driver and other road users.

Volkswagen Australia are in the process of contacting all affected vehicle owners to organise a free inspection and repair.
