Peugeot Australia’s model range will soon be bumped up with the arrival of the new hatchback 308 model.

A hybrid model will be available and the full local line up will consist of four variants: 308 GT Hatch, 308 GT Premium Hatch, 308 GT Premium Wagon – all of which are scheduled to be available in the fourth quarter of 2022 – and the 308 GT Sport Hatch Plug-In Hybrid, which is slated to appear in 2023.

The three internal combustion engine (ICE) variants will be powered by a three-cylinder, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 96kW of power and 230Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The 308 GT Sport Hatch Plug-In Hybrid will combine a four-cylinder, 1.6-litre petrol turbocharged engine producing 132kW of power with an 81kW electric motor, mated to an e-EAT8 gearbox to provide a combined output of 165kW of power and 360Nm of torque.

“We’re delighted to welcome the Peugeot 308 range to the Australian market,” said Kate Gillis, Peugeot Australia Managing Director.

“The range has been carefully considered to provide a strong offering for Australian consumers looking for dynamic and stylish design, an enjoyable and convenient driving experience and enhanced technology across both electrified and turbocharged internal combustion powertrains.”

Further information, including specifications and pricing, will be available closer to launch.
