The all-new Kadjar debuts in Australia

The new Renault Kadjar has been officially launched in Australia.

The SUV – which has been available for a while in Europe – is an entrant in the mid-size market and is aimed, as many competitors are, at the urban customer.

Renault says that ‘its compact size and command-post visibility make it ideal in busy urban areas; its estate car-like driving position and quiet, comfortable interior ensure the driver remains relaxed and focused on long journeys; and it has everything those owners who want a life of escapism and adventure might need’.

Power for the front-wheel drive SUV comes from a 4-cylinder, 1.3-litre turbocharged engine, developed in cooperation with Daimler, and the Kadjar is available in three model trims – the Kadjar Life 1.3ltr Petrol EDC (Efficient Dual Clutch), Kadjar Zen 1.3ltr Petrol EDC, and the Kadjar Intens 1.3ltr Petrol EDC. The entry Life model comes in at $29,990, the Zen at $32,990, and the Intens at $37,990. Options include metallic paint at $750 and fixed panoramic glass roof and auto-dimming rear-view mirror for $1000.

The cabin has a horizontal dashboard with a 7-inch multimedia touch screen. The R-LINK 2 connected multimedia system includes a smartphone mirroring function, compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and drivers can display driving-compatible apps directly on the screen. A Bose audio system is available.

Safety features across the range include technology such as front and rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, cruise control with speed limiter, Hill Start Assist, Electric Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Emergency Break Assist (EBA), distance warning and automatic emergency braking (AEBS Inter-Urban).

The Zen and Intens models get side parking sensors, Lane Departure warning (LDW), Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and hands-free keycard with automatic locking and welcome function. The Intens model also receives easy park assist.

The Renault Kadjar comes with 5-year unlimited km warranty, 5-years capped price Servicing, up to 150,000km (whichever comes first), and up to 5 years’ service activated roadside assistance when scheduled services are performed on time with a Renault Dealer. Service intervals are up to 30,000km or 12 months (whichever comes first).
