Students get behind the wheel of their careers with Auto Camp

The most recent Auto Camp held in the December school holidays was another fully booked class of enthusiastic students from schools around Queensland.

In the three-day immersive program, students aged 14 – 17 were given the opportunity to gain an insight into the automotive industry and get hands-on with their learning.

The course covered a range of introductory level topics including automotive principles and maintenance, hybrid battery technology, design and manufacturing, and collision repair technology.

Brayden Chesterfield (14) from Nerang State School, attended the Auto Camp program with an automotive career in mind.

“I want to work as an automotive electrician,” stated Brayden. “[The course] has pushed me towards [this career choice] through experiencing it, seeing how it feels and seeing what everyday tasks would involve.”

“My parents gave me the course as a birthday present. I thought it was a great opportunity to get a bit more knowledge [about the automotive industry] for training purposes.”

“[The course provides] some good basic knowledge about the different topics.”

Holly Young (14) from San Sisto College is another student who benefitted from attending the Auto Camp program.

“It is really interesting and a lot of fun. It has taught me a lot,” said Holly. “I enjoyed learning about the different parts of the car, learning how to service them and what parts need to be checked.”

“The course has given me more drive to [have a career in the automotive industry] because it has given me more interest in the topic.”

Auto Camp is an incredible experience for those who have an interest in electronics, engineering or mechanics as a career pathway, or simply working on cars as a hobby.

Conner Notaras (16) from Bremer State High School signed up for the course to gain a better understanding of the industry as a potential career pathway.

“The course is very interesting. I have learnt a lot of things that I didn’t know,” stated Conner.

Conner enjoyed the level of hands-on learning that the course offered. “I prefer to learn through this method, so this has been really good for me.”

The Auto Camp program is a fantastic chance to give young adults a taste of working in the automotive sector, and all the exciting and interesting challenges it brings.

For students looking to plan their future, the automotive industry is a fast-paced and stimulating career choice.

The next Auto Camp course will be held on 13 – 15 April 2021. Places are limited so book in soon!
