Recall notice issued for Western Star trucks over potential fuel leak

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has issued a recall notice for Western Star trucks sold between 2010 and 2016 after a potential fuel leak issue was discovered.

Following a recall notice issued last month for Western Star trucks sold between 2017 and 2019 that affected 485 vehicles, the same issue was identified in trucks sold between 2010 and 2016, affecting an additional 2,386 vehicles.

The identified issue relates to potential leaking in the high-pressure fuel rail feed lines found in vehicles equipped with a DD15TC EPA07/ADR80/03 engine.

“If a fuel leak occurs, this may cause a subsequent engine fire, which could result in serious injury to vehicle occupants and other road users,” said an ACCC spokesperson.

All affected vehicle owners are requested to contact an authorised dealership to arrange for an inspection and replacement of the two high pressure fuel rail feed lines and supporting hardware.
