Over 14,000 Nissan Pathfinders recalled for potential stop lamp fault

Nissan Motor Company Australia has recalled 14,460 examples of the Nissan R52 Pathfinder for a potential fault with the stop lamp.

According to the recall notice issued by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), “the stop lamp relay may stick in the ON position.”

The recall applies to the 2014-2015 R52 Pathfinder, sold between 25 September 2013 and 31 January 2017.

“If the stop lamp relay sticks in the ON position, the following may occur:

  1. The stop lamp remains illuminated when the brakes are not being applied; or
  2. Loss of engine power; or
  3. The driver may be able to shift the vehicle out of park or start the engine without depressing the brake pedal.

This increases the risk of an accident and injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.”

Affected owners are advised to contact their local/preferred Nissan Dealer to organise an inspection and, if necessary, the re-positioning of the stop lamp switch and replacement of the stop lamp relate, free of cost.
