New Off-Road Focused Ford Ranger Model To Hit The Roads In 2023

Ford Australia has announced it will be expanding the range of the ever-popular Ranger model, with the all-new Wildtrak X edition expected to make its way down under later this year.

Looking to close the gap between the top-of-the-line Raptor edition and the current Wildtrak, the Wildtrak X is built for off-road performance. New Bilstein Position-Sensitive Dampers allow for better fine-tuning and calibration for off-road driving, while General Grabber AT3 all-terrain tyres have also been fitted around 17-inch alloy wheels, giving the vehicle a 30mm wider track width front and rear and 26mm more ground clearance.

New off-road tools have also been built in to assist with control and performance while off the beaten track. With Trail Turn Assist, drivers can navigate tight turns while engaged in 4H or 4L by applying the brake to the inside rear wheel, reducing the vehicle’s turning circle radius by up to 25 per cent.

Meanwhile, the built-in Trail Control feature allows the driver to set a speed while off-road, up to 32km/h, for the vehicle to take over accelerating and braking, leaving the driver to focus on steering through difficult terrain.

Finishing off the package is Ford’s Flexible Rack System, a new off-road grille, Matrix LED head lamps with auxiliary LEDs, B&O premium audio system, and a 12.4 inch digital cluster.

“We know Australian customers love the versatility their Ranger offers them,” said Ford Australia and New Zealand President and CEO Andrew Birkic. “Wildtrak X really captures their desire for exploration, with new hardware and features so they can head across the country or go further off-road than ever before.”

Starting at a retail price of $75,990, the Ford Ranger Wildtrak X will be available in local showrooms from the second half of 2023.
