Mercedes-AMG EQS53 Arrives Down Under
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQS53 4MATIC+ has arrived in Australia, priced from $328,400 plus on-road costs.
As the brand’s first-ever series production model with a fully-electric drivetrain, the luxurious and sporty EQS53 marks a new era for the Mercedes-AMG range.
Powered by a pair of electric motors and a 107.8kWh (usable) battery pack, the EQS53 produces power outputs of 484kW and 950Nm in the standard model, good for a 3.8-second 0-100km/h sprint time, and 220km/h top speed.
The optional AMG Dynamic Plus Package increases these outputs to 560kW and 1020Nm in Race Start launch-control mode – making the EQS53 AMG’s most powerful car on sale in Australia – for a 3.4-second 0-100km/h dash and 250km/h top speed.
Backing up the power are 415mm six-piston front and 378mm single-piston rear compound brakes, adaptive air suspension, and rear-wheel steering that can rotate at up to nine degrees for a smaller, low-speed turning circle or better high-speed stability.
DC fast charging at up to 200kW is available – allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in 31 minutes. Buyers can also choose from a standard 11kW or optional 22kW AC on board chargers.
This high-capacity system endows the EQS53 with a recommended driving range of 587 km (ADR 81/02), assisted by the highly optimised aerodynamic shape that enables an impressively low drag coefficient of just 0.23.
Further to its impressive all-electric performance, the model brings new features to the Mercedes-AMG range. Interior tech features are plentiful, led by the innovative MBUX Hyper screen, which combines the driver instrument, centre, and passenger displays into a large 1.41-metre panel across the dashboard.
The hyper screen includes Augmented Reality navigation as standard, an OLED front passenger display, and a fingerprint scanner enabling instant access to personalised settings.
Other interior features involve a panoramic glass sliding sunroof, 15-speaker Burmester stereo, four-zone climate control, and Nappa leather front seats with heating, ventilation, massaging, and memory.
Standard specifications also include a comprehensive array of safety features, such as accident anticipation, parking assistance with a 360-degree view, as well as keyless entry and start with flush-integrated door handles.
The 2023 Mercedes-AMG EQS53 is available to order now, with first customer deliveries commencing imminently.
