Melbourne rolls out Hybrid buses

Victoria has taken the initial steps towards a more sustainable future with the introduction of a hybrid bus to Melbourne’s public transport system; the first of a fleet of 50 to enter service with CDC Victoria.

With hybrid vehicles delivering emissions reductions, better fuel economy and less noise, to date the fleet is the largest single order of hybrid buses in Australia.

It is expected that 30 hybrid buses will be rolled out in Melbourne inner suburbs over the next 12 months, with all 50 expected to be in service by mid 2022.

CDC Victoria CEO, Nicholas Yap, said his team are proud to be part of modernising CDC’s Victorian bus fleet.

“Our new fleet of hybrid buses is an exciting development that demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering transport innovation by reducing both the emissions and fuel consumption of our fleet,” he said.

“As a business, we’re deeply committed to helping shape a better future for the next generation through reducing our carbon footprint.”
