Mazda issues recall notice for more than 18,000 vehicles

More than 18,000 Mazda vehicles have had to be recalled after engine faults were found to be affecting some newer model vehicles causing a loss of power and stalling issues.

The recall has been issued for the 2018-2019 Mazda 6 (GL), 2018-2019 Madza CX-5 (KF) and the 2019 Mazda 3 2.5L petrol engine (BP) vehicles.

“The malfunction indicator light may illuminate, the engine may lose power and may stall without the ability to restart, increasing the risk of an accident and injury to vehicle occupants and other road users,”  reads the recall notice.

The issue comes from the engine’s powertrain control module (PCM) software not operating correctly, affecting the cylinder deactivation function. This malfunction may cause an intake valve rocker arm to shift and make contact with other parts of the internal engine.

All affected customers will be contacted directly. To check if your vehicle has been affected click here.
