Mazda Australia Brings Track Focus to Updated MX-5 Model Range

Mazda Australia has announced updates to the MX-5, headed by a new, performance-focused variant – the Mazda MX-5 GT RS – that will be available in Roadster and RF forms.

The updated Mazda MX-5 range went on sale in January with the GT RS models available with the 135kW Skyactiv-G 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine and Skyactiv-MT six-speed manual transmission.

There’s a Brembo brake package installed up front, alongside Bilstein gas-pressurised dampers, 17-inch forged alloy wheels by BBS, and Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyres measuring 205/45/R17.

Rigidity and steering response are improved by a solid alloy strut tower brace linking the front suspension struts.

Technology and personalisation updates have also been made available as part of the MX-5 range.

Wireless Apple CarPlay has been added as standard equipment connecting to a 7.0-inch touchscreen display. This supports the existing wired access to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto systems.

A new Deep Crystal Blue paint finish joins Snowflake White Pearl, Jet Black, Machine Grey Metallic, Soul Red Crystal Metallic, and Polymetal Grey Metallic as options.

On the inside, Pure White nappa leather upholstery is available on the range topping Mazda MX-5 RF GT Black Roof model.

Pricing:
• MX-5 Roadster GT RS, 2.0-litre manual, $47,020
• MX-5 RF GT RS, 2.0-litre manual, $51,100.
