INEOS Automotive Begins Production of Grenadier 4X4

INEOS Automotive has begun production of the Grenadier 4X4 at its facility in Hambach in France. Deliveries are expected to begin in December.

In May, the company revealed that the workhorse offroader will be launched with a multiple trim line-up available in two configurations, with prices ranging from $84,500 to $96,495.

Power will come from a choice of two straight-six, 3-litre BMW engines, with a turbo petrol engine producing 210kW and 450Nm, and a twin-turbo diesel generating 183kW and 550Nm. Both will be paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox from ZF.

The Grenadier comes with permanent four-wheel-drive and has a two-speed transfer case with a built-in centre differential which is lockable in both high and low range. Braked towing capacity is 3.5-tonne, and the Grenadier has more than 2,000 litres of load space and 5.5 tonnes of winching power.

Underneath the utilitarian, galvanised steel body, there’s a ladder-frame chassis, solid beam axles, underside protection that includes front and rear skid plates as well as fuel tank protection, and heavy duty coil suspension with Brembo brakes.

A utilitarian interior includes drain valves that allow for the floor to be hosed, while standard seating upholstery is a combination of hard-wearing cloth and vinyl that is stain, dirt, and water-resistant.

The Grenadier’s Central Control System displays information via a 12.3-inch touchscreen and the 4×4 comes with a DAB+ radio, Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay. Bluetooth connectivity and voice control allow for hands-free calls. USB-A, USB-C and 12V sockets are standard. Extra outlets can be added as an option.

“We’ve come a long way since the project kicked off in 2017 and this is a landmark moment for INEOS Automotive as a vehicle manufacturer,” said Mark Tennant, INEOS Automotive Commercial Director.

“To get to this point is a testament to the resilience and hard work of the entire INEOS Automotive team, our development partners and our suppliers – for which we thank them all as we now look forward to making our first deliveries to customers.”

To support those deliveries, INEOS Automotive has built a network with over 200 sales and service sites worldwide, including 29 in Australia.
