Garage and Motor Trader Magazine, January 15 1934

The January 15, 1934 edition of Garage and Motor Trader magazine was the very first edition of a magazine that continues to this day as Motor Trader e-magazine. Published by the Garage and Service Stations Association of Queensland (now MTA Queensland), the Garage and Motor Trader covered ‘the entire motor trade of Queensland – Garages, Automotive Engineering Workshops, Body Builders, Accessory Stockists and Motor Dealers‘.

As written in its opening pages: ‘The introduction of the Garage and Motor Trader coincides with the beginning of the year which competent authorities forecast will see depression dispelled; particularly so in Queensland which, according to statistics , is farther along the road to prosperity than any other State. The latter part of 1933 gave every reason for optimism, and definitely indicated that 1934 will be the most profitable year experienced by the motor industry since the boom days of five or six years ago . . .
