Funding Announced to Prepare Better for Floods

The Minister for Employment and Small Business, Shannon Fentiman announced this week further funding of $10,000 will become available from 10th June for businesses in certain Local Government Areas in Townsville. This money can assist flood affected small businesses to repair buildings, plant or equipment and may also be available in circumstances where impacted businesses have not been eligible for other disaster recovery funding.

The $10,000 grants for will be available for eligible small businesses across 14 Local Government Areas to assist with business planning or to explore other options to make their business more resilient and sustainable. This means that the money can be used to assist businesses to plan for the future in areas like flood-proofing measures, implementing cloud-based software and data solutions, business growth strategies, as well as some building, plant and equipment repairs in specific circumstances.

Grant applications will open 10 June 2019.
