Ford F-150 to Join Australian Line-up in 2023

America’s top-selling truck is making its way down under, with Ford confirming that the F-150 pick-up will arrive in Australia by mid-2023.

Two models will be available at launch – the XLT and premium Lariat – both with a 3.5L EcoBoost V6 engine bringing 298kW of power and 679Nm of torque.

Braked towing capacity is 4,500kg, up 1,000kg on what the Ranger offers and in line with the Silverado and Ram.

While full specifications and pricing are yet to be announced, Ford has advised the car will be backed by a five-year unlimited kilometre warranty and will be sold and serviced through the Ford Australia dealer network.

“Whenever I speak to our dealers, they tell me that customers consistently ask about the F-150, ask when it is coming, So I am very proud to now be able to say it’s heading our way,” said Andrew Birkic, president and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand.

“There are just so many passionate F-150 fans out there and we’re all thrilled to be able to bring this iconic truck to our roads with locally remanufactured right hand drive models.”

Ford has engaged engineering specialist RMA Automotive to convert the vehicles to right-hand drive, meeting all applicable Australian Design Rules and safety regulations.

For now, model variants such as the Raptor or all-electric Lightning aren’t on the table, but Ford hasn’t ruled out bringing them to Australia once the remanufacturing process is established and demand for the vehicle has been proven.
