Implementation of new modification code LS14 — Re-rating of ATM/GTM of a light trailer to Manufacturer’s Specifications.
– Commenced 1 March 2018

TMR is transitioning away from Approved Persons (APs) using the heavy vehicle modification code S7 (ATM re-rating of a trailer) to certify the re-rating of trailers with an ATM of 4500 kg or less (light trailers), to the new Queensland specific LS14 light vehicle modification code.

LS14 allows APs to re-rate the ATM of a commercially built light trailer to the trailer manufacturer’s specification. However, re-rating of a homemade light trailer’s ATM must be done under the LS12 modification code.

The new code will be implemented on 1 March 2018. Suitably qualified persons may now apply for the LS14 code but will not be able to certify any modifications under the new code until 1 March 2018.

The use of S7 modification code to re-rate light trailers must cease from 1 March 2018.

The details of modification code LS14 modification code information and checklist can be found in the Queensland Code of Practice – Vehicle Modifications.
