Carsales brings dealerships to the customer during COVID-19

Carsales has introduced a new ‘buy from home’ feature to make the car buying process easier during COVID-19.

With customer numbers down significantly at car dealerships due to tight travel restrictions and social distancing regulations in place, the new buy from home feature connects customers with dealers from the comfort of their own home.

Through the feature, customers can organise a vehicle to be delivered to their house for a demonstration and fully-sanitised test drive while maintaining minimum contact with other people. The customer can then obtain a quote, initiate the buying process by submitting a finance application, trade-in valuation and process a deposit, and finally have the purchased vehicle delivered to their house, making the entire car buying process simple, straightforward and safe.

Moving the car buying process online looks to be a solution to one of the biggest issues currently facing dealerships during COVID-19.

According to a recent carsales study, 53.4 per cent of participants were looking to buy a car within the next month. However, 17.3 per cent of respondents were concerned about the logistics of taking a car for a test drive, while 19.5 per cent were concerned about travel restrictions.

Carsales are not the only company to take the car buying process online in the wake of COVID-19.

BMW Australia recently announced a new online sales program to bring test drives to the homes of customers in an attempt to boost sales.
