BMW Unveils Enhanced Z4 Roadster

The latest iteration of BMW’s acclaimed Z4 Roadster will launch locally early next year, boasting a tweaked look, new colour and wheel design, and a revised feature list.

The line-up remains unchanged from the existing two variants, keeping the sDrive20i and M40i, which both utilise TwinPower Turbo engines and eight-speed Steptronic Sport transmission. But while the powertrains are the same, plenty has changed.

Featuring a fresh styling package, the 2023 Z4 gets a new kidney grille design that features horizontal slats and new front apron side air curtain intakes. There are also three new metallic exterior colours available for the range, including M Portimao Blue, Thundernight and Skyscraper Grey.

The striking new paint finishes are complemented by a new alloy wheel offering, the 19-inch M light V-spoke style 772 M Bicolour Jet Black matte with a diamond polished edge.

Across the lineup, there are two optional packages that can be had.

Available on either the sDrive20i or M40i grades, the revised M Sport Plus package includes 19″M light alloy wheels Double-spoke style 799 M bicolour (standard on M40i), M sport brakes in blue or red (standard on M40i), tyre pressure indicator, adaptive M Suspension (standard on M40i), and M seat belts. It also now integrates M Lights Shadow Line, which replaces chrome touches for the headlight element surrounds with black.

Available only on the M40i, the Precision Package includes a heating steering wheel, lumbar support for both the driver and front passenger, ambient lighting, adaptive LED headlights and a Harman Kardon surround sound system.

“Enhancements for the 2023 Z4 add flourish to a model recognised for bringing the traditional roadster experience to the modern era with a combination of powerful and responsive engines, rear-wheel-drive, a classic fabric soft-top roof, sharp dynamics and a premium cabin ambience,” the company said.

Prices start from $90,900 plus on-road costs for the sDrive20i, or $133,900 plus on-road costs for the M40i – unchanged from the outgoing range.

The 2023 BMW Z4 range is due in Australia in the first quarter of 2023.
