BMW Motorrad issues recall amid transmission failure concerns

BMW Motorrad Australia has issued a recall notice for its K1600 model after an issue was discovered with the transmission.

Affected in the recall is 290 2016-2019 K1600 GT (0F01/0F11), K1600 GTL (0F02/0F12), K1600 Bagger (0F51/0F53) and K1600 Grand America (0F51/0F53) motorcycles.

According to the Australian Competition and Consumers Commission, if damage to the gearwheel occurs, gears have the potential to malfunction when changing which can lead to two gears being engaged simultaneously. If this occurs, the rear wheel may lock and/or the teeth of the gear wheel may shear off.

Affected owners should contact an authorized BMW Motorrad dealer to arrange a free repair.
