Avoiding COVID-19 Scams

During the COVID-19 pandemic, many scammers will take this opportunity to try and exploit businesses that have been financially impacted.

Due to this, it is important that your business takes steps to protect itself from such online threats, attacks, phishing emails and scam phone calls and be aware of cyber security risks that may target your business.

To help businesses identify potential online security threats, the Australian Government has develop the COVID-19 cyber security advice page. Business owners are encouraged to visit this page to stay updated on potential COVID-19 security threats.

The Queensland government has also provided resources on protecting your business from cyber crime to help businesses secure themselves from any potential threats and help business owners identify potential threats. Suggestions for increasing online security include using virtual private networks (VPNs), securely configuring a remote desktop client and implementing multi-factor authentication. This resource can be found here.
