AUTOMOTIVE TRANSFORMATION SCHEME (ATS)

The Automotive Transformation Scheme (ATS) commenced on January 1 2011 and will run until 31 December 2020.

Providing businesses within the Australian automotive industry with cash payments, the ATS will cover up to 15% of costs for the investment of plant and equipment; and 50% of costs when investing in research and development aimed to encourage investment and innovation in the motor trades.

Cash payments are available for activities that relate to the production of motor vehicles, engines and engine components and registered participants will receive quarterly cash payments with the ATS capping assistance at $1 billion (from 2016 to 2020).

ATS participants won’t be able to receive assistance exceeding 5% of the sales value of their previous year’s reported automotive goods and services. If the ATS participant is in an eligible startup period, funding will be no more than 15% of its eligible start-up investment.

To apply you must at a minimum be an:

  • Australian Motor Vehicles Producer (MVP)
  • Australian Automotive Component Producer (ACP)
  • Australian Automotive Machine Tool and Automotive Tooling Producer (AMTPs), or
  • Australian Automotive Service Provider (ASP).

Other eligibility requirements may apply.

Deadline to apply:

You must apply before 1 January of the year you are registering for (e.g. you must register for 2019 by 31 December 2018).
