Audi issues recall over loose wheel arch trim

A loose wheel arch trim that could loosen and detach has resulted in a recall notice for the Audi 2017-2020 Q5.

According to Audi Australia, an issue has been discovered where the wheel arch covers on the rear wheels have not been properly attached and may loosen over time. This has the potential to result in the cover detaching from the vehicle and causing road accidents and risk to other road users.

11,140 vehicles have been included in the recall notice, with a full VIN list of affected vehicles available here.

Audi Australia will contact affected vehicle owners individually and organise a free of charge inspection and repair at their preferred dealership.

A further 1,765 Volkswagen vehicles have been included in a separate recall notice released by the Australian Competition and Consumers Commission.

The 2015-16 Tiguan and 2015 Passat CC have been included in the recall which relates to a potentially faulty condenser in the airbag.

According to the recall notice, a faulty condenser may deactivate over time or the seatbelt/airbag pre-tensioners could be inadvertently set off as the vehicle reads that there has been a crash.

Volkswagen will also contact affected vehicles owners and organise a free of charge and inspection and repair at their preferred dealership.
