Applications open for Queensland Government Small Business grants

The Queensland Department of Employment, Small Business and Training have opened applications for two  grant programs; the Small Business Entrepreneur Grant Program and the Business Growth Fund.

Additionally, the Department has released the 2019-20 schedule for all grants.

Small Business Entrepreneur Grants Program

Applications for Round 5 of the Small Business Entrepreneur Grants Program are now open. The grants program has been put in place to assist new small businesses access professional advice and support during the beginning stages of establishment. Businesses may receive up to $5,000 (excluding GST) in matched funding to access an advisor or consultant for up to 3 months to help develop the small business.

Criteria:

Businesses may be eligible if they have been registered in the last four years and received an ABN, have fewer than 20 employees and have a headquarters in Queensland.

Applications for this grant close 30 August 2019 at 5pm.

Business Growth Fund

Applications are also open for the Business Growth Fund. Eligible businesses may receive funding of up to $50,000 (excluding GST) to assist small and medium sized who have demonstrated high-growth and employment aspirations.

The funds may be used to purchase specialised equipment necessary for the business that will allow the business to move on to the next stage of growth.

Criteria:

To be eligible, businesses must have a minimum 3 years trading history, fewer than 50 employees, an ABN, a Queensland headquarters, and have a minimum turnover of $500,000 in the last financial year. Businesses must also show evidence of high-growth and employment opportunities in Queensland.
