MTA Queensland at Myriad Festival
The Motor Trades Association of Queensland (MTA Queensland) is proud to announce a major partnership for 2018 that fits intrinsically with the future direction of the automotive industry.
The Myriad Festival showcases start-ups, innovation and next-generation technology on a global platform. It is presented in partnership with the State Government’s Advance Queensland initiative and last year had over 3,000 attendees. MTA Queensland will be a key Myriad Festival partner and will feature strongly in event showcasing our role as an industry leader in the automotive sector through a combination of program content and activation displays. 2017 saw the launch of Carmageddon, a successful and well-attended event series designed to inform businesses of the emerging technologies related to the automotive sector and stimulate change for existing business models. Carmageddon in 2018 is going next-level, with MTA Queensland’s significant presence at Myriad.
2017 also saw the launch of MTAiQ – Australia’s first automotive innovation hub. The hub has attracted some outstanding talent in the entrepreneurial and start-up space. These hub clients will also be profiled at Myriad, providing them with a platform to make valuable connections to potential investment opportunities.
The three-day festival, from Wednesday 16 May to Friday 18 May, will be held at the Royal International Convention Centre at Fortitude Valley (Brisbane Showgrounds) and will be a hive of activity, with key note presentations and interactive content packaged into seven themes – cities, money, health, culture, work, play and food.
Group Chief Executive for MTA Queensland, Dr Brett Dale will present as a key note speaker, complementing our extensive profile at the event and will deliver content covering ‘The future of mobility – exploring new business models and utopian societies.’ Brett will outline that we are at the dawn of a new era where more seamless and integrated mobility promises to be faster, cheaper, safer, cleaner and more convenient than ever. His topic will cover how the automotive industry must embrace the digital economy and build business models capable of capitalising on the revolution of future mobility. He will explain how opportunities will be exclusive to those who build ‘excellent’ experiences into their mobility product or service. This is not simply about technology used to digitise and automate segments of traditional automotive business, but rather it is about getting closer to the consumer through data, insights and the evolution of ‘excellence’ in the customer experience.
The Garage is the lower level of the event space and will heavily feature exhibits and product demonstrations from the clients of the MTAiQ innovation hub. In the mix will be immersive displays including a prototype of a flying car, a new electric ‘assembled’ vehicle, a wireless charging electric bus as well as augmented reality demonstrations. Staff and clients of MTAiQ will be in this activation zone to chat to investors and members of the public.
In the Garage, MTA Queensland will also operate a unique, purpose-built theatrette, to screen amazing automotive innovation videos from around the globe. Find out more about the Garage here.
In addition, the Festival will host a panel discussion on the topic, ‘Are Flying Cars the Way of The Future?’ The panel will be facilitated by Dr Dale from MTA Queensland and will feature Steve Baxter from Channel 7’s Shark Tank series, who also happens to be Queensland’s Chief Entrepreneur. Professor Michael Milford from QUT’s Science and Engineering Faculty will also be on the panel, alongside Kellie Nuttall a Global Mobility Expert from Delloites.
