Peugeot Australia To Discontinue Diesel Powertrain

Peugeot Australia has made the decision to discontinue the diesel variants of its passenger car and SUV models, citing changing market conditions and preferences.

Both the 3008 GT and 5008 GT models are affected, leaving just the Expert and Boxer commercial vehicle models as the only diesel-powered vehicles under the Peugeot brand.

A Peugeot Australia spokesperson said “With continuous local market evaluation undertaken to ensure the Australian market is provided a carefully considered vehicle offering, the MY22 3008 GT Diesel will be discontinued for the MY23 production.

“Similarly, the MY22 5008 GT Diesel will be discontinued for the MY23 production.

“With stock of MY22 3008 GT Diesel and MY22 5008 GT Diesel available to purchase, interested customers are encouraged to contact their local Peugeot retailer.”

The decision comes as Peugeot is preparing for the arrival of its first two full battery electric (BEV) models – the e-Partner van and the e-2008 SUV – in local showrooms later this year. A third model, the e-208 electric hatch, is also widely tipped to be available in Australia by end of year.

These models are in addition to Peugeot’s growing plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) offerings, which now consists of the 308, 3008, and 508 HEVs.
