The new 2023 Kia EV6 GT performance car is due in Australian showrooms next month.

Claiming the title of Kia’s most powerful production car ever sold locally, it is said to be capable of a 0-100km/hr sprint in just 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 260km/hr.

A front-axle-mounted motor delivers 160 kW and is paired with a powerful new rear-mounted motor producing 270 kW, to deliver a combined power output of 430 kW and 740 Nm of torque – 80% higher than that of the next most powerful EV6 variant.

Aiding performance are a number of mechanical upgrades: advanced traction control designed to mimic a limited-slip rear differential, additional underbody bracing, a unique steering rack with 2.3 turns from lock to lock (down from 2.67), and adaptive suspension tuned on Australian roads, for local conditions.

21-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S performance tyres come as standard, alongside 380mm front and 360mm rear brake discs with four-piston, green-painted front calipers (up from 325mm discs behind all wheels on the standard EV6).

A new GT Drive Mode automatically configures the vehicle’s e-motors, braking, steering, and electronic stability control systems into their most dynamic settings, while Drift Mode sends 100% of torque to the rear wheels to easily achieve sideways drifting with a small steering angle. Drivers can further tailor the various power and suspension control systems to suit their individual driving preferences by accessing the “My Drive Mode”.

Other GT-specific additions include sports front seats with heating, artificial leather and suede trim, GT-specific front and rear bumpers, green contrast stitching, and heated rear seats.

“The GT will be a very exciting addition to the EV6 range and just like the Air and GT-Line models launched earlier this year, it is attracting a remarkable level of attention,” said Damien Meredith, Chief Operating Officer of Kia Australia.

“Here is a car that combines the power, performance and agility of a track worthy sports car, while also providing comfort, on road driveability and practicality for everyday use.
