Lucid, the company behind the Lucid Air range of luxury sedan electric vehicles (EV), has begun deliveries of its Lucid Air Grand Touring model and also announced it will introduce a new variant – the Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring Performance will be an incredibly potent luxury EV, with the All-Wheel-Drive dual-motor model boasting 1,050hp (783kW) and an estimated driving range of 718km from its 112kWh battery pack.

The two electric motors – one at each axle – can punch the Air Grand Touring Performance from 0 to 60mph (96.km/h) in 2.6 seconds.

Both it and the standard Grand Touring model have a 900V charging system, enabling users to add up to 483km of range in 21 minutes at a 350kW DC fast charger.

Both the Air Grand Touring and the Air Grand Touring Performance are stocked full of tasty features. Standard equipment for both models includes a glass canopy spanning windshield to roof; intuitive Lucid UX interface with 34-inch floating Glass Cockpit and 5K resolution; over-the-air software update capability; a 21-speaker Surreal Sound immersive audio system with Dolby Atmos compatibility; Intelligent Micro Lens Array LED Headlights; heated and ventilated front seats with massage feature; soft-close doors, power opening/closing boot and frunk; and DreamDrive Pro – Lucid’s advanced driver assistance system, with 30+ features and future-ready hardware.

Both Grand Touring versions come standard with 21-inch wheels and Pirelli tyres specially developed for Lucid with the Grand Touring Performance featuring a new Aero Sport wheel design. The Air Grand Touring is also available with 19-inch Aero range wheels with all-season tyres.

Both models are available with four interior themes, each designed to evoke Lucid’s California home with plenty of leather, Alcantara, and wood trim.

The Lucid Air Grand Touring models aren’t cheap, and the Air Grand Touring Performance will, the company says, have an MSRP of $US179,000 ($AU243,0075). Customer deliveries in the U.S. are slated to begin in June 2022. The Air Grand Touring model is already in production.

Lucid is making its name with these extremely powerful, luxurious, and technologically advanced sedan models, but it does have plans to move into other sectors of the market. A luxury SUV, being developed under the name Project Gravity, is being planned, with a projected launch date in 2024.
