Aston Martin has revealed the 2022 DBX707, a new high performance, range-topping version of the company’s first SUV.

The model boasts a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 with an output of 520kW (707PS) and 900Nm – an improvement of 115kW (157 PS) and 200Nm over the current DBX.

The power hike, along with the use of a quicker-shifting and more responsive wet-clutch nine-speed automatic gearbox, allow for a 0-100km/h sprint time of just 3.3 seconds.

There’s also a new electronic limited-slip rear differential, upgraded to support the increased output, with a shorter final-drive ratio for improved acceleration.

Wheels and tyres are 22″ as standard (in a choice of Sport and Ribbon designs), with an optional 23″ alloy wheel offered in a choice of textured or satin black with diamond tuned highlights.

High-performance brake pads and unique brake booster tuning aid performance under heavy loads. Ceramic brake discs shave 40.5kg of unsprung weight.

“With the DBX707 our objective was to match immense performance with impeccable control and precision, combined with an authentic sporting character essential in every Aston Martin model,” said Aston Martin’s Head of Vehicle Engineering and Procurement, Drummond Jacob.

“To this end, we applied an uncompromising approach to every area of the vehicle. Engine, transmission, suspension, brakes, electronic systems and aerodynamics have all been subject to extensive enhancement and meticulous tuning.”

Chassis upgrades promise an enhanced tri-chamber suspension system with unique tuning and new dampers, returned electronic power steering and electronic Active Roll Control systems, a new “Race Start” launch control system in Sport+ and GT Sport modes, and revised all-wheel drive and stability control tuning.

A styling overhaul complements the mechanical upgrades, led by a larger satin chrome front grille, new air intakes and brake cooling ducts, and horizontal lower daytime-running lights.

Dark satin chrome window surrounds, new bonnet louvred blades, a gloss black splitter and black side sills all feature, as does a revised rear end with an enlarged roof spoiler, larger diffuser, rear-wheel arch vents and quad exhaust outlets.

The sporting theme continues on the inside, where all the switchgear is finished in dark chrome and Sport Plus seats are equipped as standard (with optional Comfort seats available).

There are three interior seat options to choose from – the standard-fit Accelerate, as well as the optional Inspire Comfort and Inspire Sport. The first features a mix of leather and Alcantara, whereas the latter pair features full Semi-Aniline leather complete with embroidered Aston Martin wings on the headrest, a contrast stripe down the centre of the seat and a perforation pattern in the seat back and base cushion.

All seat types come with a 16-way electronic adjustment plus heating in the front and rear.

Bespoke to the 707 is a new driving mode selector panel that offers individual buttons for suspension, stability control, manual gear selection and exhaust mode.

Production of the DBX707 is due to commence in Q1 of 2022, with the first deliveries scheduled to begin in early Q2.

Australian launch timing is yet to be confirmed.
