Land Rover Expands PHEV Offering in Australia

Land Rover Australia is expanding its local plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) range, bringing its full line-up of Range Rover family PHEVs, as well as the Defender 110 PHEV to market.

The Range Rover Evoque P300e PHEV joins the existing Range Rover Sport P400e PHEV, and will soon be followed by the all-new Range Rover PHEV available to order at the end of January, the Range Rover Velar PHEV from Q2, and the Defender 110 PHEV from Q3.

The all-wheel-drive Evoque P300e newcomer utilises a 147kW 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder petrol engine, paired to an 80kW electric motor and a 15kW lithium-ion battery for combined outputs of 227kW and 540Nm.

Land Rover claims it will emit 43kg/km of CO2 and have a fuel economy of 2.0L/100km in hybrid mode. It is said to have a 6.4-second 0-100km sprint time, an all-electric range (from full-charge) of 62km and a 0-80 per cent recharge time of 30 minutes.

Jaguar Land Rover Australia Managing Director Scott Maynard said the expansion aligns with the company’s global Reimagine strategy and rising consumer demand for electrified powertrains.

“Australian drivers are increasingly considering electrified powertrains – our expanded PHEV line-up offers compelling alternatives to traditional ICE engines, providing customers with more choice,” said Mr Maynard.

“As part of our global Reimagine strategy and commitment to sustainability-rich modern luxury by design, Land Rover will offer pure electric power, nameplate by nameplate, by 2030.”

In addition to the PHEV line-up coming to Australia, the company also aims to introduce six pure electric variants in the next five years, with the first to arrive in 2024.
