Important New Info Regarding Business Closure – COVID SEQ Lockdown

Dear members,

We have recently received updated advice from the Office of the Chief Health Officer (CHO). This lockdown is significantly different from others in that more businesses are required to close than specified in the latest CHO Direction.

This advice applies ONLY to businesses located in the following Local Government Areas (LGAs):
• Brisbane City
• Moreton Bay
• Gold Coast
• Ipswich
• Lockyer Valley
• Logan City
• Noosa Shire
• Redland City
• Scenic Rim
• Somerset
• Sunshine Coast

Queensland Health has advised that the purpose of the lockdown and tightened definition of essential work is to ensure COVID-19 is not spread between workplaces or within communities.

Consequently, vehicle repair, service and maintenance may be considered necessary to maintain essential services or supplies to the community during the lockdown and therefore can operate.

New and used car, motorcycle, and farm machinery dealer showrooms are now advised to close. Vehicle pick-up should be on a case-by-case basis and only when critical.

It is imperative that movement and interaction between people in the community is limited to the greatest extent possible during the lockdown to allow Queensland the best chance of controlling this outbreak.

The MTA Queensland Workplace Relations team is available and ready to assist members. If you have any questions or queries, please contact them on (07) 3237 8777.

Thank you for your understanding of this evolving situation.
