$5000 Covid-19 support grants now available for small and medium businesses in Qld

The Queensland Government has announced one-off $5,000 grants that will be made available to small and medium businesses affected by the current South East Queensland and interstate Covid-19 lockdowns.

Treasurer Cameron Dick said Queensland’s economy had “recovered quickly from the short sharp lockdowns,” but acknowledges the short interval between this one and the last.

“We understand two lockdowns within a month presents a new challenge, which is why I am announcing this package today,” he said.

The $5,000 grants aim to provide cash flow support for businesses to help them adapt to the evolving circumstances.

Small and medium businesses are defined by the government as “businesses that have a turnover of more than $75,000 per annum and have an annual payroll in Queensland of up to $10 million.”

In addition to meeting other eligibility criteria, businesses must have experienced a reduction in turnover of at least 30 per cent as a result of the lockdown.

Grants are also available for large businesses in the hospitality and tourism sector operating in the 11 Local Government Areas impacting by the lockdown, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.

More information on how to apply, including the opening date for applications, will be available HERE in the coming days.
