Dacia unveils new logo and branding for 2022

Dacia, a Romanian car maker owned by the Renault Group, has announced its latest strategic plan, and with it, a new logo, emblem and colour scheme.

First appearing on the Bigster Concept earlier this year, the new emblem brings together a stylised ‘D’ and ‘C’, that form a mirror image of one another. Paralleled to the “links of a chain that are paired together in a strong, cohesive bond,” the brand claims the emblem is a powerful image that will be easily recognisable, even from afar.

Also featured across both future vehicles and showrooms will be a full length ‘DACIA’ logotype, designed to “give the impression of robustness and stability”. The shape of the letters has been intentionally refined, with the geometric lines of the font adding a sense of “mechanical movement to the string of letters.”

“Simple and clear, these two new visuals are full of meaning,” the company writes. “For instance, the arrow-like ‘D’ in the logo carries the eye towards the heart of the design and hints at the feeling of movement created by a future-looking brand.”

Alongside the updated logos will be a new colour scheme, built around khaki green to evoke the brand’s closeness to nature and off-road capabilities. Secondary colours will include dark khaki, terracotta and sand, as well as bright orange and green for a more ‘tech’ feel.

The new visual identity will be phased in from June 2021. Dacia retailers will switch to the new brand identity as early as 2022, and vehicles will feature the new logo and emblem from the second half of 2022.
