Huawei’s first car unveiled, the 2021 Seres SF5
Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei has unveiled its first car, the Seres SF5, in partnership with auto brand Seres.
The Seres SF5 features Level Two autonomous driving functions, with adaptive cruise control, active steering assistance technology, and road congestion assistance.
Using a Huawei infotainment system designed to seamlessly connect with a smartphone, the vehicle also integrates voice control through the car.
The vehicle’s two electric motors develop 405kW and 820Nm, with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine acting as a range-extending generator. The company claims the car can reach 0-100km/h acceleration in 4.68 seconds.
In pure electric mode, the vehicle has a range of 180km to meet the needs of daily city commuters but can be extended with an add-on to over 1000km for long-distance travellers.
“This exciting announcement sets a precedent for both the consumer electronics industry and the new energy vehicle industry,” said Richard Yu, Huawei Consumer Business Group CEO.
“In the future, we will not only provide leading smart car solutions to help partners build better intelligent vehicles, but also help them sell those vehicles through our retail network across China.”
The Seres SF5 is to be marketed and sold at Huawei’s flagship stores located in China.
