2011-2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee recalled for fuel pump defect

Jeep Australia has recalled 16,305 examples of its Grand Cherokee due to a potential defect with the fuel pump relay.

The affected vehicles were sold between 1 November 2014 and 31 January 2021, stamped model years 2011 – 2013.

According to the recall notice issued with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), “the fuel pump relay on some vehicles may be susceptible to silicon contamination on the relay contacts. This can cause the delay to fail.”

“A fuel pump relay failure can result in the engine stalling or a no-start condition. If the engine stall while driving, there is an increased risk of an accident resulting in injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

Owners of affected vehicles are advised to contact their authorized Chrysler Dodge and Jeep dealers to arrange for a repair, free of charge.

For further information, owners can call 1300 133 079 or contact Jeep via their website.
