Potential suspension fault leads to Toyota RAV4 recall

Toyota Australia has issued a recall for the MY20 Toyota RAV4 after it was discovered that vehicles had the potential to crack in the lower front suspension arms.

The recall affects 1,552 vehicles manufactured between October 2019 and April 2020.

Toyota has stated that the front suspension arms in affected vehicles may be prone to small cracks as a result of rapid acceleration and deceleration, due to “Improper production conditions” during manufacturing.

“Small cracks may form in the front lower suspension arms and with rapid acceleration and deceleration over the parts’ lifetime, these cracks could spread and the suspension arm can eventually separate from the front wheel assembly,” said Toyota.

If a separation were to occur, this may lead to a loss of vehicle control and an increased risk of a crash or road incident.

Toyota are in the process of contacting all affected vehicle owners.

Replacement parts are expected to be made available in late July. Concerned owners have been asked to contact the Toyota Recall Assist helpline (1800 987 366).
