MTAQ Cars & Coffee February 2020

The first Cars & Coffee gathering of 2020 attracted a tidy collection of classic and exotic visitors to the MTA Queensland head office in February.

But while petrol power was the main feast, the team from eMotion-Concepts were also on hand to demonstrate their fleet of electric vehicles. Designed for the urban environment, the range included vehicles for personal mobility as well as commercial use and sparked plenty of interest from even the most die-hard classic car enthusiasts.

You can find out more about the eMotion-Concepts range on page 36.

For the petrolheads amongst the crowd, however, a great range of cars made the trip on what was a bit of damp and drizzly Sunday morning. Amongst the classics on show was a terrific 1969 Pontiac Firebird Coupe, a 1967 MG Sedan, a 1967 Mercedes-Benz 200 sedan, a 1972 Holden HQ, a very nice 1976 Datsun 260Z coupe and a 1978 BMW 635CSI Coupe.

Amongst the more modern ‘classic’ was a rare 2018 Alpine A110 Coupe and a 2006 TVR T350C Roadster – a wonderful example of a sports car from the British manufacturer. Powered by the TVR Speed Six 3.6-litre engine that is good for 350hp, the Roadster pushes to a top speed of 310km/h and a 0-100km/h time of 4.4 seconds. Nice.

Once again on hand to cover the Cars & Coffee gathering were the team from YouTube channel Overtaking Lane, who did some filming and interviewed some of the vehicle owners. You can check out their video and the Overtaking Lane channel at www.youtube.com/overtakinglane.

As always, those who came along were able to enjoy some terrific cars, some delicious coffee and food from Zali’s Café, and raise some money for the Youngcare charity.
