Plastfix drives Gender Equality in Automotive Industry

Less than one per cent of women work as a trades-person in the automotive industry and as a minority, women can certainly experience challenges faced when working in a male dominated industry.

Plastfix is a global leader in the collision repair industry managing around 40,000 plastic part repairs per year across Australia and New Zealand, establishing a reputation for pioneering new delivery methods of plastic repair solutions, delivering high quality training for technicians, and the development of specialty tools and automated equipment. Plastfix is actively investing into research and development, passionate about examining new ways of delivering the highest possible standard of repairs to your business, the industry and the environment.

Plastfix understands that the modern workforce is competitive, complex and constantly changing. They also understand that one of the biggest roadblocks women face is being stereotyped.

Because of this, and due to Plastfix’s desire to expand and service a growing marketing in automotive and general plastic repairs, Plastfix is looking to diversify and start to explore new ways to attract more females to becoming repair technicians.

To tackle this goal, Plastfix has launched its Women 4 Plastic Repairs Program with the aim to promote a presence of women in the automotive repair industry through mentoring, flexible working hours and policies that promote fairness whilst strengthening a more diverse workforce.

Kirsten Heindel has recently been recruited as Plastfix’s first female plastic repair technician. She joined the Queensland team after successfully completing a six-week training and repair process induction with the Qld Team Leader, Keenen Chapman. Kirsten who delivered quality work and experienced rapid success was also named the foundation ambassador for Plastfix.

Mr Dimovski CEO of Plastfix said,

“We want to encourage females from various career backgrounds and skills to explore this exciting career choice. We are a professional, fresh and innovative company offering flexible working hours to suit candidates who might be looking for part time work or flexible hours and days backed by an attractive salary package and bonus scheme. We need good staff who are looking for long term employment, we have the work volumes and geographical footprint in Australia and NZ to offer flexible working hours to service our customer base.
