Faulty battery cable forces recall of 2018-2019 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep Australia is recalling the 2018 and 2019 Wrangler models due to a potentially faulty battery cable.

According to a recall notice released by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the transmission harness “may have insufficient clearance” to the catalytic converter. If the converter comes in contact with the battery cable, this may lead to the vehicle catching fire, or the vehicles safety systems being disabled.

544 current generation Wranglers manufactured between 2018 and 2019 are affected by the recall.

Jeep will contact all affected vehicle owners to arrange an inspection of the transmission wiring harness and replace if necessary at no cost to the owner.

There have been no incidents reported as a result of issues relating to the catalytic converter in affected vehicle models.
