Potential engine failure leads to Renault recall

Renault Australia has issued a recall for the 2018 model-year Megane RS hot hatch, due to a wiring issue that could lead to potential engine failure.

Concerns have been raised that the oil pressure solenoid valve wiring had a fault that had the potential to lead to engine failure, creating an increased risk of an accident.

580 vehicles have been affected by the recall.

According to the report from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, “The oil pressure solenoid valve wiring was not manufacturer to the required specifications, which may lead to engine failure,”

“If the engine fails, the driver may experience heavier steering, loss of auxiliaries and/or need to apply much greater braking effort.”

Affected owners have been contacted by Renault Australia via mail, seeking to organise an inspection and repair at their preferred dealership.
