Technology is transforming the automotive industry

There’s no doubt that technology is impacting every industry and the automotive industry is no exception.

The motor trades is currently in the midst of a technology-driven transformation and in addition to transforming vehicle technology, it is also impacting day to day operation including commercial advertising methods through to purchases made.

So how is technology transforming the automotive industry?

The Power of Automation

Automation has existed in some form or another for many years. However modern developments are almost certainly transforming production, speeding up efficiency and introducing automotive processors which remove manual human labour.

The Rise of Millennials

Millennials are set to make up a large portion of the automotive market as other generations start to decline. However, millennials will not simply take a car for a test drive to get a feel for it, and then make a purchase. As part of their buying process and to make an informed decision, millennials often turn to social media to receive answers and recommendations. This means having a strong social media presence is becoming a vital part of succeeding within the automotive industry.

Websites are crucial

Businesses can longer launch a website with their contact details and wait for potential customers to get in touch. A website is a crucial part of a successful business and nowadays, automotive companies need to offer more immediate sale options and personalised tools to reach different customers and increase their sales, with many now steering away from bricks and mortar dealerships as a result.

Innovative Design Processes

Technology isn’t just transforming manufacturing and marketing process; it is also impacting the design process too. The introduction of new design/testing technologies has led to a greater aerodynamic efficiency, the advancement of various shapes, and more investigative research into fuel economy.
