2022 Hyundai Staria now in Australian showrooms
The 2022 Hyundai Staria has arrived in Australian showrooms, with a futuristic look and first-in-class advanced safety technology.
First revealed to the public in April, the new people-mover will be available in three variants, the base ‘Staria’, the mid-spec ‘Elite’, and the flagship ‘Highlander’, all with eight seats.
The new 2022 model uses Hyundai’s 2.2-litre turbo-diesel engine (130kW/420Nm) paired to an eight-speed ‘conventional’ torque converter automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Towing capacity on the new van is said to have improved, with a provisioned capacity at 2,500kg.
The incoming Staria is larger than the outgoing iMax across all measurements, now standing at 5293mm (+143mm) long, 1997mm (+57mm) wide, 1990mm (+65mm) high and with a wheelbase of 3237mm (+73mm).
The future-oriented, innovative exterior is said to resemble a ‘spaceship’.
“The all-new Staria’s one-curve silhouette will send your imagination soaring into outer space. Like nothing else on the road, its sleek, minimal and clean lines are complemented by a wide radiator grille, horizontal LED daytime running lights and low-set headlamps,” the company writes.
“The sheer space and openness of the panoramic windows and wide-glass sunroofs add both to this futuristic design and to a stimulating in-vehicle experience for your passengers.”
Internally, occupants in the front row get a modern SUV-like dash design and technology suite, with a wide 10.25-inch main display dominating the centre stack. A second broad display sits behind the steering wheel to act as an instrument cluster.
Standard equipment includes a full suite of advanced safety technology, including radar cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assistance, front and rear parking sensors, a centre airbag between the front seats, and a 360-degree camera.
The changes have brought with them a price rise of $5,560 compared to the model it replaces. The vehicle is priced from $45,240 plus on-road costs.
