Porsche Australia recalls Cayenne due to fire risk

Porsche Australia has issued a recall for 244 Cayenne vehicles manufactured between November 2017 and December 2019 after a potential fault was discovered with the fuel supply line.

The issue affects the MY-19-MY20 Turbo Wagon, MY20 Turbo coupe, MY20 Turbo S E-Hybrid wagon and MY20 Turbo S E-Hybrid coupe models.

The recall was announced after it found that affected models may leak fuel when the engine hits very high temperatures. This is caused by the weakness of a component in the fuel supply line.

A fuel leak occurring while the vehicle engine is at a high temperature may result in a fire being ignited inside the vehicle.

Porsche Australia is in the process of contacting all affected vehicle owners to notify them of the fault and organising a free-of-charge repair.

However, Porsche Australia does not expect to receive replacement parts until the end of next month at the earliest and have asked customers to be patient during this time.

In the meantime, drivers of affected vehicles are being asked to drive with caution and stop driving their vehicle immediately if they see fuel leaking from the vehicle.
