Brisbane City Council to host online workshops for small businesses

The Brisbane City Council have organised a series of forums and workshops to support local businesses and nurture innovation in Brisbane.

The Lord Mayor’s free Small Business Forums and Workshops allow small business owners to connect with other business owners and industry experts and discuss a numerous issues and concepts relevant to their field. Business owners will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the Lord mayor, guest speakers and council officials during these workshops.

Each workshop will also feature special guest speakers who will share their knowledge on running a successful business, leadership and innovation and will be available to answer questions about starting, running and building a business.

There are three Small Business Forums and Workshops scheduled to take place in the coming months.

Lord Mayor’s Business Excellence Workshop – Online: People Management

The first workshop is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 27 May and will focus on the theme of people management during COVID-19.

With many businesses looking to reopen and recover following COVID-19, the small business workshop will delve into strategies business should consider in relation to people management during this time.

This online workshop will feature special guest speakers Stephen Beirne, CEO of Queensland Leaders and Edwin Trevor-Roberts, CEO of Trevor Roberts. Attendees may join the virtual conversation using the hashtag #bnebusiness on twitter.

Lord Mayor’s Business Excellence Workshop – Online: Cyber Security

The second workshop will look at cyber security and is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, 10 June.

During this workshop, Bierne will be joined by Geoff Stewart, Director of Surety IT as they discuss what businesses need to consider when protecting their business security from being compromised.

Discussions will centre around the importance of cyber security for businesses, with a particular focus on cyber security for working remotely.

Lord Mayor’s Business Excellence Workshop – Online: E-Commerce Design and Digital Marketing

The final workshop is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, 24 June.

This workshop will take an in-depth look at approaches businesses can use to take advantage of e-commerce and digital marketing opportunities. With businesses looking to recover quickly from COVID-19, this workshop will give them guidance on how to avoid common digital marketing mistakes and use different platforms to thrive.

Christopher Byrnes, Managing Director of Klyp Australian will join Beirne for the discussion.

Each workshop will start at 10am and are expected to run for 45 minutes.
