Google Australia introduces support package to assist small businesses through COVID-19 recovery

Google Australia has launched a small business support package to assist local small businesses in their efforts to recover and reopen following the COVID-19 pandemic.

With demand more than doubling for online digital skills training as COVID-19 forced many businesses to move online, Google’s support package includes a range of free resources and grants that small businesses can take advantage of.

New ways for customers to support Australian small businesses

Google My Business has introduced new features that allow small businesses to add a donation link, a gift card link, or both to their profile to allow customers to further support them during this time.

Free online training courses by Google Australia

Google Australia trainers will lead a range of free workshops on a range of topics through Grow with Google OnAir. A free bespoke small business workshop will be held on 11 June as part of the workshop program. This workshop will delve into how businesses can grow their online presence using Google’s suite of products.

Google Ads grant

As part of Google’s global response to COVID-19, $20 million in Google Ads grants have been made available to Australian small businesses, community organisations and government entities.

Indigenous business support

Google.org is helping Australian-based organisation Many Rivers reach out to indigenous and other businesses by providing greater accessibility to online business tools.

Highlighting Australian Stories

Google is using their social media channels to feature stories of success for Australian small businesses to inspire other small businesses recovering from COVID-19. Stories such as that of Barney Martin Hair, A Touch of Salt, Expo Centric and Mitchell Harris Wines are just some examples of Australian small businesses who have adapted and overcome issues caused by COVID-19.

Small businesses can stay up to date on the latest support from Google by following Google Australia on Facebook and Twitter or through the Google Australia blog.
